Criticism

Non of us likes to be criticised. It is rarely a good day when we have read or overheard a harsh feedback about our appearance, qualities or opinion. However, how much of the negative comments touch us depends on how much we doubt ourselves.

The degree to which we are able to ignore criticism reflects how we, deep down, feel and think about ourselves. When we have sufficient self-esteem and love for ourselves, criticism will never affect out mood. We would not feel hurt or sad about someone else’s opinion about us, because our truth is different.

If criticism touches us, it is a sign that deep down inside self-criticism and lack of confidence has long existed.

The question that arises is: how do we overcome this feeling?

  • I want you to look back in the past and search for an triggering moment. When was the first time someone criticised you about the topic we are dealing with right now? Try to remember how it made you feel. Now I want you to understand that this opinion is not you. This is his/her opinion and is merely a reflection of themselves, because you were young back then you accepted this opinion as an universal truth, but it is not - it is just an opinion.
